How to Build the Support Frame
Q: What is the difference between the 100 and the 100RGB Singing Christmas trees?
A: There are a variety of differences between these two designs - they are:
100 (see product page )
Available in 46" x 46" or 23" x 23" outside dimensions
Designed for 120v mini-lights, either LED or incandescent
Much tighter spacing (usually 1/2" to 3/4") of the lights results in an almost "neon" look and thus the faces look cleaner and more defined than the designs using RGB nodes
Color of different sections (mouth, outline, etc) are set by the color of the bulbs selected
Requires the use of AC based controller (sometimes more expensive than DC, sometimes less expensive)
Cannot be adjusted or adapted to use RGB nodes due to the differences in light sizes
About the same cost once completed (controller, lights, wiring) as RGB
One layer of coro required to support bulbs
Easiest to sequence as there are only 8 channels per face
100RGB (featured on this product page)
Available only in 46" x 46" due to the large size of the bulbs
Designed for 8mm LED / 12mm base RGB nodes, either smart RGB pixels or dumb RGB
Faces are not as defined due to the larger spacing of the bulbs (usually 1"+)
Colors of sections (dumb RGB) or even individual bulbs (pixels) can be adapted on a per song or even within the song for more expression
Three layers of coro required to support bulbs
Requires the use of DC based dumb or smart controllers
Harder to sequence as there are a minimum of 24 channels (dumb RGB) to 921 channels (smart pixels) and most sequences are not designed for RGB faces, so you may have to adapt exisiting single color sequences
