This clip was designed to allow you to mount 1/2" PVC pipe to a structure (roofs, fascias, window surrounds, stucco). Then, RGB strip, modules or bulbs are mounted to the 1/2" PVC pipe and the entire assembly just "pops" into the clips mounted to the substrate.
Why Not To Use PVC Clips
Pixel Strip Mounted With Clips
Clips used with PixelTrim Product
Product Features
Advantages:
  • Designed for 3+ years of outdoor use. Standard PVC clips (which we no longer sell) only typically last a single season as they are not UV resistant and will break when installing pipes.
  • Allows you to build your entire lighting structure safely at the ground
  • Reduces the amount of time required on the roof or ladder to perfectly mount your lights
  • Lights can be perfectly spaced and angled, on the ground, without depending on shingle or gutter clips that might not even work with pixel lighting
  • Securely holds PVC pipe to prevent rotation of pipe, ensuring that lights face the exact direction you want them pointing - towards your audience
  • Uses cheap and light PVC pipe
  • Clips are clear but can be painted with Krylon Fusion for Plastics paint prior to installation to match roof shingles, fascia or other mounting substrates for year-round mounting
  • While this product is not intended for use with 1/2" EMT conduit (we recommend using schedule 80 PVC instead where strength is an issue), which is .706" OD compared to 1/2" PVC which is .840" OD - the clip can be used with 1/2" EMT. Here are the holding strengths (at 78 degrees f with sufficient screw):
    • 1/2" PVC Pipe - 18 pounds per clip
      • Compatible:
        • ASTM D-2241 / SDR 13.5 / Thinwall
        • ASTM D-1785
      • Non-Compatible:
        • SDR 11 (CPVC)
    • 1/2" EMT Conduit - 9.5 pounds per clip
Warnings:
  • The optional 1-1/2" screw may not be suitable for all mounting locations such as roofs. Ensure that the selected screw is long enough to fully embed into the mounting material to ensure a secure attachment.
  • Do not depend upon or hold onto PVC mounted pipe to support yourself.
Additional details:
  • Overall height from bottom of base to top of PVC pipe: 1.14"
  • Base width: .87"
  • Maximum screw head width: .35"
  • Width of gap at top when 1/2" PVC mounted: .71"
  • Mounting Surface to Base of Pipe Gap: .30"
  • Color: Clear (87% light transmission)
  • Material: Polycarbonate (Lexan) with UV inhibitors
Additional items required/optional:
  • 1/2" (nominal) / .840 OD Actual (thin wall recommended) PVC pipe
  • Minimum 4" zip ties, 6" recommended (Nylon UV resistant recommended)
  • Longer screws may be required depending on your specific substrate

4 of 5 Great for vinyl siding October 25, 2020
Reviewer: Brian Touhey from Hudson, NH United States
Vinyl siding is great except for decorating. Punching holes or stapling isn't a great option.  These clips make me feel better about minimizing the number if holes in the vinyl siding to outline the house and windows.  At times, I wish I had wood siding. Though I'd probably still use these for convenience and making decorating easier.

1 of 5 What a waste.... July 7, 2020
Reviewer: Justin Burke from San Jacinto, CA United States
Switched to these lexan clips last year. Clips have been up since November 2019. Went to put up my lights for the 4th and EVERY clip is breaking when trying to insert the pipe. Now my display wont be up for the 4th because I dont have 200 of these lying around to replace all the ones that are now broken. Claims theyll last 3+ years, I got 8 months... shouldve saved a bunch of money and just bought cheap pvc clips instead.

Please reach out to us as this amount of breakage is not normal and we'd like to find out more about what is happening (pipe, mounting method, etc).  While all plastics will degrade over time when exposed to UV, there are a number of factors that come into play location, plastics material and modifiers.  PVC clips, as shown in our video on the product page, are absolutely not going to last as long due to UV exposure which is why we switched plastics a number of years ago from PVC to Lexan.
