Q: My strips appear to be broken and have no connection on the 5V line between the sections.
A: This is actually by design. This strip has "buck converters" in it and while the 12v line of power runs the entire length of the strip, that 12v power only powers the buck converter (soldered to the back of the strip) to drop the 12v down to 5v which the strip actually operates at. DO NOT solder the connections together as this can damage the buck converters.
Q: What kind or how many power supplies will I need to run this?
A: This depends on a variety of factors, including wiring, distance, colors used, etc. To calculate the number of required power supplies per LED strip, see our article "
How big of a power supply will I need for RGB lights?" and our
blog article about the same subject. (opens in separate window)
Q: I want to outline my house with RGB pixels - how do I do that and what do I need?A: We DO NOT recommend 30/30 or 60/60 for house outlines in most cases. 70% of house outlines are performed with 30/10 pixel strip
