Step 1:

  • "RS485 Based" Controllers (EasyPix, 3 & 27 Channel Dumb Controllers): Add DMX output to your Light-o-Rama Showtime Software Suite S3 (requires Advanced version) with our ActiDongle (like your LOR "RS-485 Adapter" but instead of the LOR language, it outputs the standard DMX language). See the product page for video setup instructions. Standard DMX controllers (using our ActiDongle) can be run along side your existing LOR controllers without any changes to your existing sequences.
  • "E1.31 Based" Controllers (AlphaPix Smart/Pixel Controllers): Make sure you are using Light-o-Rama Showtime Software Suite S3 (requires Advanced version) - Support for the E1.31 protocol is built in and nothing other than a network / Ethernet port (nearly all computers have one already) is required. AlphaPix setup videos including for LOR S3.
Step 2: Wire the signal to the DMX controller using standard CAT5 cable just like you do with your LOR controller.
Step 3: Add a power supply to provide power to your DC controller (see our selection here.)
Step 4: Add lights to the controller. We support either dumb/basic (the entire string is one color at a time) or pixel/smart (individually controlled) lights for use with the TinyPix controller or the PixLite controllers.
Step 5: Save 50% to 150% using standards based DMX lighting over Light-O-Rama controllers and lights!
