Attaching the pixels Start by
laying out the two 60" long pixel mounting boards and the 14 divider
panels. Double-sided tape has already been pre-applied to the
pixel mounting, carefully remove the white backing on the tape for one of the
mounting boards. Layout your pixel string for mounting onto the
board - it doesn't matter which end of the pixel mounting board as the
boards are unidirectional. Attach the FireFli pixel directly in
the middle where the small 1/8" hole is located. You should
have a slight hump in the wire between the pixels - this is normal. Press the pixel
firmly into place. Lay the second board next to the first board
and repeat the process. At one end you will need to cross over to the
other board - just bend the wire to allow for both boards to lay flat
next to each other. Now remove all the pixel domes by turning them counter
clockwise. Removing the domes will allow more light to fill each
section of the Mega Matrix. |

Attaching the pixel
dividers Next attach each of the 14 dividers to the
pixel mounting boards. Start by bending the dividers so that the
cut face of the board is facing upward and away from the pixel mounting
board. Then, insert one end into the two slots next to the pixel.
Some minor rocking motion and pressure from the back side of the board
may be required to get the tab to go all the way through the slot.
The tab should stick out on the back side of the pixel mounting board by
about 1/16 of an inch. |

Building the Mega Matrix Box
Start by laying the Mega Matrix box out flat on the ground with the
hinge cuts toward the ground. Lay the two completed pixel mounting
boards on top of the flat box so that the plug-in cord is positioned so
that it will come out the "D" shaped slot in the top of one end.
Next, start folding each of the long sides in toward the center of the
pixel mounting boards. The outer most flap of the board will then
become the divider between the two pixel mounting boards. Leave a
little bit of the pixel mounting board end, where the wire between the two pixel mounting
boards crosses, sticking out one end of the Mega Matrix.
Now push in (this is normally pretty tight and may require a small
plastic mallet or other hard object to tap them in) the pixel mounting boards until the
edges are flush with the top of the box. The wire between the two
pixel mounting boards should fit between the slot cut into the coro that
divides the two columns of the box as shown in the photo.
Next, folder over the side
flaps, that have the notched edges, inward. Finally, line up the
holes on the end and sides and screw in the supplied screws using a
Phillips screw driver. When complete, you should see the notch for
the center divider coming out of the hole in the end. |

Completing the Build
After you insert the screws into the end of the box without the "D"
slot it should appear as shown in the photo.br> If you intend to mount
the FireFli controller to the back of the box, we have provided holes
for mounting the box and for cable strain relief. Start by
installing the supplied zip ties as shown in the photo before installing
the screw.
Next, make sure that the end of the FireFli is pulled
through the "D" slot in the end of the box. Mount the FireFli
using the supplied zip ties as shown in the photo.
Finally,
install the remaining four screws to close the end of the Mega Matrix
box.
You will also notice that on each side of the Mega Matrix
there are two holes - these holes are for connecting two or more
sections of Mega Matrix together (screws not included). |
