Product Features
Our FM transmitter has a built-in antenna. If you should have issues with distance of the signal to the radio, you can increase the distance by adding 10 to 20ft of 18 AWG wire to the antenna extension on the transmitter board. Here is how:

* The only method of sending audio or FM transmitting from the FM transmitter board is when you are using the built in SD card with sequences. There will not be any audio on the transmitter board if you are using audio from a PC.
* Make sure that you can hear the audio coming out of the small speaker on the board. If there is no audio on the board and you have that option turned on in the HinksPix controller, this means there is no audio reaching the board.
* Using a 10 to 20 foot long, 18 AWG or smaller wire, attach either via solder or by looping the wire around the hole of the following location on the FM transmitter board:

* We recommend feeding this length of wire outside the enclosure and locating it vertically

I have signal about 75 feet away. Went through a couple of different stations and found one that works perfect. Everyone that has looked at my display says it works great!

I also purchased the transmitter from HolidayCoro...I have to agree it has a very WEAK signal. My tree is 75 feet from the road and signal is lost at 40 feet with the 20 foot extension wire.

1 of 5 Please QC your FM Boards, and seek a new source December 5, 2020

Like many other reviews here, I've had zero luck getting any range from the transmitter.  I'm using a low frequency that I've checked against local stations, soldered a 20' length of 18GA wire to the board, and mounted it vertically, and still can't pickup radio 50 feet away.  Sound is coming through the board via the speaker, so I know that it is getting input.   I'll look for an alternative version via amazon.   Disappointing given all of the other wonderful stuff that I've gotten from HC.

I tried many configurations and many antenna layouts, but ultimately found an fm transmitter on amazon for $100 that works 1000x better and out of the box with a 3.5mm cord.   waste of money

1 of 5 Not worth it. November 29, 2020

I have pretty much outfitted my entire house display with items from holidaycoro and they all work great except this FM transmitter. You only get a few feet of range without an antenna, with an antenna I can get maybe 20 feet. For Antenna's I tried using the recommended wire method and building a dipole tuned to my broadcast frequency, neither really helped. To add insult to injury the board broadcasts a loud drumming sound via RF interference from the HinksPixPro through the ribbon cable at the 20fps the lights blink to. I spent 3 days and multiple trips to the home center to try and make this thing work, I have ended in frustration and moved on to another FM transmitter.
